Wasn’t there a game show way back that you had to guess the password?
It’s a big white room.
It smells like medicine.
It’s going to hurt.
The answer: an operating room or operation.
Last Friday, I had rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder. It is with great effort I type this without hitting the wrong keys. I have three holes in my upper left shoulder. Contrary to my MRI, I did have a small tear in my rotator cuff which is why, for two years, it’s hurt like you know what. I guess I waited a tid-bit too long before I did anything about it.
Prior to being rolled in, I attempted to watch this Aurora Bay OR video of my arm procedure. When the doc in the film stabbed the knocked out dude’s shoulder with a scapel and the patient moaned–I was done and I couldn’t watch it. In any case, this could have been me laying there. Hey, in fact it was me on Friday.
Here’s hoping my spring is operation free. I’ve had it with hospital gowns.
For the strong stomached: OR-Live Rotator Cuff Surgery
And when the moderator in the film says to try physical therapy, anti-inflamatories, cortizone injections first– (BUZZER) The answer is: Been there, done that.

Hi Stef Ann,
oh man, that sounds bad. Hope the pain is more tolerable now, and that you will be feeling like new very soon.
Seems this subject has come up 2 or 3 times in just the past couple of days… A client of mine had that same surgery this last year and said it is really common in women our age (wonder why??) but… GET REST so you can get that typing arm back to the books!!
Thanks Nancy and Loretta,
Oddly, the pain has increased ten-fold a week after the surgery. My arm is purple and yellow. I hope it feels better soon. I’m not a very good patient. I have no patience!
oh Stef i have been through this surgery and i put mine off for way to long. It is the worst surgery i have ever had but i havent had anything really major done before. Do your physical therapy no matter that it seems like a form of “spy torture” and at times will make you want to tell where your grandmother hides the family jewels. I am not a very patience patient either but hang in there. After about 18 months i could finally put my arm behind my back. This is also another form of torture that the p.t’s must find humorous. Keep good thoughts and yes you will survive this. If i can do it, anyone can cause i am a big baby when it comes to pain, especially My pain.
