Fall Into October Contest – Deadline Extended!

October 7th, 2009 Posted in Contest by Stef Ann

The leaves are starting to turn, the air is growing crisp, the groceries are selling pumkins and the aisles are filling with items for baking.  It’s that time of year when we all slow down and anticipate a toasty fire, a good book to read, and a warm mug in hand.

As you know, I’m not much of a cold-weather person.  Fall can be very pretty.  Winter . . . ugh . . . help!  Idaho has four distinct seasons so I really can’t complain after heading out of lovely summer weather temperatures that held between 80 and 100 degrees for the past few months.

In honor of fall’s arrival, I’m offering a signed copy of ALL THAT MATTERS.  The cover says it all.  The warm colors and inviting bakery with pastries in the window.

To enter, simply post what you like the most about fall.  I’ll be picking a random winner on November 1, 2009 November 7, 2009.  An EXTRA week due to technical difficulties.

NOTE:  I accidentally erased the contest on October 7.  If you posted between Oct 1-7, I’ve re-entered SOME of  the entries and you’re still in the contest.  That’s why it will say my name as the poster.  Sorry about that!  HOWEVER, I didn’t have an accounting of EVERYONE.  My apologies!  If you check back at my site–please RE-ENTER if I have not done so for you already.

Cooler temps are what I like most about fall.

I am already blessed simply by living in the beautiful mountains of Southwestern Virginia. However, in the Autumn of the year, I feel truly alive. The humidity is gone, and the air becomes dry with a sharper edge. The sky is so blue it almost hurts your eyes! I love the Fall mums with their gorgeous colors and their unique spicy scent. There are festivals and apple orchards and pumpkins to delight young and old. When my mountains put on their Autumn finery, they truly steal my breath! The deep red hues are my favorite, but each color in the mountain tapestry is a wonder from Nature’s own paint box.

Living in So. FL and a native of Puerto Rico, Fall = a drop of just a few degrees :)
Since my hubby works in Baltimore, I talk a trip there in October so we can do a “Fall Drive” . Last year it was the Shenandoah Valley.
I LOVE the colors of the leaves. If you are not a believer of God, that will definitely change your mind and beliefs. The array of yellows, oranges, reds etc in breath taking.

PS I thoroughly enjoy your books. THANKS!

What fall means to me is colors, just taking a sunday drive and seeing the all the amazing colors that the tree’s have turned. Since the air is cooler, its nice to put on a warm fuzzy jacket and venture outside while its still warm enough to spend time outside. But most of all its for cuddling more w/the one you love, using the excuse im cold to get closer. But any season is the right season for a Stef Ann Holm novel.

  6. Stef Ann says:

    JACKIE on Oct. 5

I love this time of year for the dynamic color pallette and the smells that waft out of the kitchens. Cinnamon and spices and time to enjoy a cup of cider and read a good book. So hope I win this one.
    Oh and Happy Halloween

Leaves changing colors, apple cider and most of all candy corn!

  8. Stef Ann says:

    Nancy on Oct. 7

Nancy–I’m sorry, but your great entry was lost in my error. If you read this, please repost your comments about So. Cal and the weather there and the football games, etc. I’m sorry! But you are entered!

  9. Fall is my favorite season so it is hard to narrow it down to one favorite thing.

I love the warm days and cool nights. Football, hot cocoa, smells (probably more aptly identified as the scent of burning leaves), baking.

It to me is a more cozy season than winter but I’m really growing to hate the winter season being in North Idaho the last two have been too harsh for me, I’m grew up with those Boise winters and they were just right.

  10. Sherry haut says:

    I like the cooler weather!

  11. Sue A. says:

I like the return of cooler weather and even the rain as I prefer the clean crisp air of fall to the dry dusty heat of summer.

  12. Megan S. says:

Fall gives me two feelings–absolute gratitude and unmatched awe.

My grandma and I are as close as a grandmother and granddaughter can be. I have lived less than 5 miles from her for most of my 29 years, and she has been there for everything I ever did. In the fall of 2001, my grandma had a heart attack. The week prior, we had been on a lake in a houseboat an hour from any town or anyone who could have helped; that week she was on a school trip with my brother less than half a mile from one of our best hospitals. God was gracious and allowed her to live. Her favorite season has always been the fall, and every year I am so grateful to God that she is still with us and able to continue making memories.

I am also filled with awe when I see all of the golds, reds, oranges, and yellows that God created. What an awesome imagination He has!

  13. Michelle says:

Crunching on the leaves with my two wonderful kids :) and watching my little girl try to catch them as they fall..while my son points at them and says “Look Mommy” :)

  14. Elaine says:

I loved fall in Michigan. Leaves turning red, pink, and orange. Being able to see the deer and other animals in the woods behind our house. It was magical and I miss it.

  15. SANDY says:

I LOVE FALL BECAUSE OF THE VIBRANT COLORS, THE CRUNCHING OF LEAVES, THE SMELLS OF AUTUMN, AND MY BIRTHDAY, ANNIVERSARY, AND MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY.

  16. Dawn L. Houtz says:

I enjoy the fall colors and the farmers in the fields, here in Iowa.

  17. tarah says:

I’ve never entered your contest! Hmm, I love watching the kids play in the leaves the most. They are so innocent and so full of happiness just to “make a mess” of the leaves! :)

  18. Andrea says:

Fall is my favorite time of the year, so this is easy. I love the smell of fall, the changing colors, the cool temps, the apple cider, the pumpkin pie, jumping in leaves, sweaters and scarves.

  19. Jane says:

I love fall because of its color explosion, cooler air and its finally time to bake gingersnaps!

  20. Diane says:

I love the satiation of homecooked soup in the belly, the tingle of warmth from a fire on the hearth, the frost on the windows that is gone by the end of breakfast, the smell released when fallen leaves are kicked and the sound of the school bus pulling up in front of the house…to take those kids away for a few hours!!

  21. Lyn-Dee Peak says:

I love the sun shining bright and then you walk out side and WHOOSH…cold air hits you. The crispness is wonderful! Nice book cover.

  22. Angela Peterson says:

I love the crispness of the air and the beautiful autumn colors. I love hot cocoa on the patio while I watch my kids jump in the leaves. I love sweaters and jackets and scouting for pumpkins. I love fall!
